Any masters who started late

*Edward Elric voice* IM SICK OF THIS FATALISTIC NONSENSE, STOP LETTING OTHERS TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN'T MAKE 2300 FIDE. If you don;t believe me, ask @LukaCro what he thinks is possible now!
Hey @GhostRabbit (or anyone else that wants to beat me up. Hoping for people all above 2200 FIDE.)

I need people to train with. Do you mind giving me a match sometime in the near future? I am hoping for a lot of learning losses. Probably games above 45 min. My next day off is Sunday and Monday. I can dedicate as much time as necessary.

Kersten is another interesting example which (to me) again illustrates a general point. So he gets his IM title at 51? Doesn't this show him improving at a late age?

No.

Understand FIDE rules for the IM title - three IM norms AND rating above 2400 at *any* point. His rating crossed 2400 aged 30 in 1998 - so he has the rating. He had two IM norms from his late 20s.

So to get the title, he needed one more IM norm, i.e. one more great tournament. And occasionally this will happen (and presumably did) even though his rating (i.e. absolute strength) has since declined with age to 2260.

BTW, an example that used to be put forward of a player improving in strength later in life was GM Rauzis, who went from 2500 to 2650 in his 50s. Only......there was another reason for that improvement ;)
Lol my USCF is only 1968 but my last 14 rated games are 2215 performance. The last game from that 14 game run was May 2018 when I couldn't crack 2200 blitz or 2200 bullet here. So maybe I am good enough to make 2200 USCF or 2100s FIDE now who knows.
I strongly suspect @Sarg0n of having terrible blitz time management skills (as you see he doesn't even bother with bullet).
I think it is possible why shouldn't the reality people don't do it because of time...I mean normal people after 20/30 need to work...so...if you have the money and the time... believe in your dreams...
in any case for 1 person managing that there are 1000 that do not...who are you?
