Queen vs Rook Endgame

How difficult do you find it? Do you know any easy way to master it?
I find it pretty difficult. It's quite difficult to win from the stronger side when the weaker side is playing accurately. Of course, the stronger side can always hope for a wrong move from the other side and thereby, winning the rook using tactics.

I think there is not an easy way to master it as there is a lack of a concrete systematic approach which is generally available for other types of endgames. However, if we are playing it from the stronger side, we can always work on improving our skills to execute these four steps successfully:-

1. The weaker side's king should be first pushed towards the edge of the board.
2. After achieving the first step, we should force its king to a corner.
3. Then, we should look for ways to force the separation of the king and rook.
4. The final blow would be to find the tactics and win the rook using a double attack.

For mastering it, some key positions, like the defensive resources of the weaker side in critical positions, should be studied and the steps mentioned above can be practiced. If we are playing from the weaker side, we should avoid falling prey to the above steps by the other side. And if we think that we have mastered it, we should always challenge a strong engine or opponent and try to win the position against it/him/her if we are playing from the stronger side or draw if we are playing from weaker side.
vs a person it's somewhat easier than vs a strong engine
Which is the position where White takes the most number of moves to take the rook or mate?
Those numbers mean half-moves, so you're still under 50.
DTZ is „distance to mate.“ „DTTR“ (distance to take rook) is probably shorter (way before 50 moves)
@Sarg0n DTM is distance to mate, DTZ is the distance to reset of the move count, i. e. capturing of the rook. For Queen versus rook DTM = 38 moves in a worst case scenario with the rook being captured past move 30. That being said, it is unlikely somebody would play this ending that efficiently. Even 2700+ players drew this ending due to the 50 move rule and unefficient play. Therefore, if the stronger side makes 2 to 3 inaccuracies, it usually can be drawn (with best defence).
Yeah, correct @Allquantor DTM of course. „DTTR“ (which doesn’t exist :D of course) equals DTZ.

I see rule of thumb: DTM-DTZ is about 10 plies.

PS: as stated before, I doubt that anyone wins it against a TB.
