FIDE Picks Breast Implants as a Sponsor for Women's Chess

Depends .
While I do not consider such a company a good sponsor for FIDE for the reasons mentioned in the article, I would dare to say that there were worse sponsors in the past. (I am reluctant to name concrete people and companies, but many of those cases were closely linked to politics and to some really controversial politicians. We might have differing views about some of them, which is one of the reasons why I do not give concrete examples.)
Furthermore, I have mixed feelings about betting companies sponsoring chess, and we could surely find more controversial cases. After all, betting is just a harmless pastime for most people, though unfortunately not for all.
I would be happy if chess could flourish without a problematic sponsorship. That said, if there were a choice between problematic sponsorship (whatever it might mean) and none, I guess that many players would choose the former. That said, I am inclined to think that even the professionals often have little choice. It is not only about money, as skipping an important event might be something that few professionals would be ready to do.

I’ve paid for chess books, programs, etc over the years. And in my 20s I got conned into spending 8,000 dollars for implants. Either way, you are paying because you perceive that it will bring you happiness. Not that dissimilar...
Here is a proposal which would test many interesting hypotheses:

FIDE makes a proclamation that in some specific year of the future, say in 10-15 years, the prize pools for the general and women's chess championships will be reversed, or do something like add a constant of 3 for the women. We will then be able to see how this incentive affects the development of female chess over time. This is put forward without knowing what the outcome of such a process would be.
My brain often picks solemn melodies (e.g. Sinatra's My Way) and supplements them with lyrics about big breasts.
