Not at all, perhaps if I rephrase chess in China and Russia could thrive without FIDE, whereas FIDE without Russia and China would be meaningless. As it is in South Africa the transport costs of being part of a semblance of a FIDE scene is prohibitive for a vast majority of the population, if FIDE is serious about being inclusive hybrid needs to become a reality.

Only dislike on the Nadal comparison: Rafa doesn't need loose racquets and sprained ankles on his opponents to win in Roland Garros. If he is in good shape he will always win ;-)
