Option to turn off new arrows

This is all really weird. We know the other commercial chess site is worth millions of dollars. Out of nowhere, Lichess interface (which has always been really good) start to look like crap. I've been a Lichess user since 2014, so nine years. I never saw so much bad design choices before. It seems to me that someone really wants us to use the other site.

Yes, I think there are double agents involved.
Is anyone listening? Please at least have an option to turn the pink arrows off they are just clutter. Pressing "a" doesnt really help as you dont get any analysis arrows then..
You can delete the "crap" variations you made and don't like to see on the board anymore.

also.. "a" there it is, "a" there it isn't. eyes on board. "a" there it is. But yes, since we can toggle engine, or book, why not user tree variations. there must be a keyboard letter that is not used yet.

PS: there are 3.5-tuple agents possibly complaining too.
I, too, am annoyed with the introduction of the coloured arrows. After spending some time with the coloured arrows, I am beginning to see the benefits they bring, but only in certain situations.

As someone relatively new to studies, I have two main use cases for them: to review my own games, and to create repertoires. Hence, my post may not be relevant to other studies such as the interactive ones.

What are the purple and pink arrows?
The purple arrow is the main move and the pink arrow is the first variation.

What's good about the coloured arrows?
The arrows are useful for scrolling through COMPLETELY REVIEWED (with annotations and variations) games and seeing when variations may exist, whether they be sidelines or corrections to mistakes. For studies where you are building a repertoire, where the main and first variation are not mistakes, the coloured arrows are fine. However, for studies that include games you've played, which involve many mistakes and blunders, the arrows are confusing until these moves have been annotated with ?, ??, ?!, etc.

What is wrong with the purple and pink arrows?
When the engine arrows have been turned on, the coloured arrows add to the clutter. I cannot tell, or at least it is very unintuitive, whether a coloured arrow has covered an engine move. Furthermore and more importantly, when analysing with an engine, I only want to know what the engine thinks and I only want to see the engine arrows: I almost never care what has been marked as the main move or the first variation - that is a less important detail which I could simply check under the move list if I ever needed to.

Situations where the coloured arrows should be hidden
The purple and pink arrows should be toggable. However, regardless of whether the setting to display them is on, the coloured arrows should never be displayed when using the engine best move arrows.

Hiding the coloured arrow when a coloured annotation exists
The two colours are used to distinguish between the main move and variations. However, the only way to distinguish whether the main move is actually good or not is to annotate the move. After having annotated the move, we are left with a coloured arrow alongside a coloured annotation, a combination that further adds to the clutter. To me, the use of a coloured arrow in such cases is totally unnecessary and even deceptive. The arrows are better with a neutral colour alongside a green ! symbol, an orange ? symbol or a red ?? symbol.

I'm not getting them now. Have they been discontinued? Even when I fiddle around with adding in different variations or looking at computer suggested variations they never appear. What do I have to do to get a purple arrow to show?
