Possibly, but its the only option there is presently if you want to play a game and be able to take a break.

The norm is adjourn not the rule but the reality or natural language, But players can convene to play a certain number of moves
But in general I think that for rated purpose lichess could allow a sub. level of each time controls for the variant « from position »
Players would have to promise to play both sides, once in case of doubt on remaining balanced odds
Then the convention at wanted pause could follow a convention of draw or resign
The prolongation from position both sides would allow the full experience of the chess board issues remaining at first interruption with the added unmpf of motivation from rated
Otherwise if it was not rated then can do same thing already
