Resign or Checkmate?

Believe it or not the answer is YES, See http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2014/aug/15/deaths-world-chess-olympiad-norway and also a case of chess rage whea person called Michael Steward and evidently he was the victim of chess rage.
In October 2009, his neighbor, David Christian, killed Michael after the two had gotten into a fight over a chess game.
Christian was sentenced to ten years in prison as part of a plea bargain. Finally there was And then there was the case of the "ChessBoard Killer". His name was Alexander Pichushkin, an outstanding Russian chess player. Unfortunately, he also became an outstanding Russian serial killer. He claimed that he had wanted to murder 64 people. His reasoning...it was the same number as squares on a chessboard. His final death count was thought to be in the 60's. Also this is interesting http://www.chess.com/blog/billwall/deaths-of-chess-players. So don't let anyone tell you chess is not dangerous or is boring!!
Depends on the case, the time, the difference between rating.

I don't expect magnus carlsen to resign the game when he ( for any reason ) takes a rook from the table.

I would feel offended if there is 30 minutes left and my rating is 500 points higher then my opponent + I have a rook in advance.
