5 Centimeters of Hair: Iranian Chess in 2023

Nice article. I knew that the athmosphere in Iran was special but not at this point. I hope it will go better for the different Iranian chess players.
I think Iranian govt needs to rethink about its polices about rights of women or if not then by end of 2023 Iranian dictator will fall
As long as players do not boycott all these events held in countries that clearly, repeatedly and as a state law violate human rights it means they care more about money and titles than human rights :)

I stand with the men and women in Iran that oppose the islamic regime.
@give_it_up
bad jokes are so out of place
seriously, they are brave women, many teenage girls, who risk their lives by refusing to accept the oppressive rules of the brutal mullah dictatorship
brave women and men also, who risk their lives == four have already been hanged, many beaten to death, like Nika
the rulers attempted to hide her body in a grave in a distant village
but the family found her body, and discovered the broken bones from her fatal beating

thank you for the well done article
keep up the struggle
women, life, freedom
Deep admiration for these people. As they say, Iranian women have bigger balls than Russian men.

BTW, Wikipedia has a photo of Sarasadat Khademalsharieh at the Grenke Chess Open 2017 without a hijab (then rated 2450, a prominent player already). Dunno how that played out, but it's probably technically incorrect to say "[she] joined the list of head scarf rebels at the 2022 FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Championships".
