I have been watching and it ranges from 15-29K people logged into the server at the same time. I think it may have hit 31,000. What is the highest number of users logged in at the same time.
I've seen it hit just over 31, 500 once.
It has been over 31500 today.
lichess just beats other sites 10-0. I played 2007-2016 in fics many, many games... suddenly all people went lichess.. there was maybe max 4000 players online in its best ( i dont know 4 sure ) but now its under 1000 users online. RIP fics.

@FINLANDIA , are you sure about that? Currently chess.com has 60,423 members online... and it's not even busy time
@redscales Something could be said about having to log in to use features after one use on chess.com (garbage btw). You can't really use the site well without becoming a member and being signed in. You can use many aspects of lichess without even being logged in. You can play anonymous games, anonymous puzzles etc all without having to log in. There are times that I am doing puzzles on my phone from work without being logged in. Maybe it doesn't make up for the other 30k members but I am sure the number goes higher... Bottom line I am actually content with a lower player base as there tends to be less cheaters or bad apples. Its also easier to narrow something down in a smaller player base as opposed to something twice its size. Irregardless of the number of users, lichess has been beyond valuable to me and its free and easy to use. Just my random 2 cents =P
First of all, Chess.com is not garbage.
Now, lichess and chess.com are both amazing websites. Both have their pros and their cons. But neither is garbage. I can list more than a dozen points about why one is better than the other.
And despite having a much higher base, I've less than half the number of complaints about misbanning in chess.com than in lichess. Actually I've heard near to none.
