Welcome Lichess Boards

I don't know what digiboard is. Lichess provides a standard HTTP API that any developer can interface with to connect any kind of board or third-party device.
The possibilities are limitless!
Oh. So that's like it's already built in? Do you have documentation on how to use it for a normal user?

I always do this for some reason. I don't know why. It's not digiboard. It's "DGT"

They have been out a long time.. I have one of the first, so all I have is the board, pieces and a connection cable. If I can connect it here for studies and classical it would improve my training 100% so I am super interested in getting this working.

Thanks!
You're awesome Thibault! Keep up the great work!
№ 15,

  This isn’t the time or place for sarcasm. ;( I am sure e-boards are still a fledgling technology — I have heard that DGT’s suffer from the odd connection dropout, “ghost pieces,” etc.; plus their pieces are unweighted, as lead would interfere with the sensors — but e-boards are getting more sophisticated all the time, and I have little doubt the ability to interface with a computer will be a standard feature on chess boards in the future. And it’s pleasing and reassuring to see Lichess open its doors to companies like DGT and Square Off. This is a bold step forward; and — in the circumstances — a very gracious gesture. . . .
  Thank you, M. Duplessis, for taking the time to do this for your users. It’s just one more thing that makes your website truly great.
  Coincidentally, yesterday I decided to donate. With the full understanding that my money isn’t actually needed to run this site, and buys me no “perks,” whatsoever. Just because I think Lichess is a worthy investment. :) You have created something very admirable here. This is a project I believe in; and I am very happy to see it grow, and be part of it.

Cheers!
@pawnedge

I don't know about newer DGT .. But I have seen something like this on mine, but only in fast time controls. Like less than 15 min. That could be an issue with this. I have only seen this twice. Unfortunately I have only used the board during about 20 games. So I don't have enough data how bad it could be if it was more consistent. The "Disconnect" was from the receiving program to chess base. The receiving program caught all moves and chess base lost connection until the board was reset. I felt it was a battery issue, but maybe I can test it more for an actual phenomenon.
@MeWantCookieMobile,

  I have heard their newer Bluetooth boards are somewhat more reliable. Also, it seems ghost pieces may be down to putting the pawns in the wrong order. (Do yours have different colored stickers on the bottom?) And of course one would think weights could be made from something other than lead. . . .
  Ah, early technology. ^_^
  I remain optimistic that all of these kinks will be worked out in time. I also totally understand those who say it’s worthwhile to own an e-board in the meantime, despite the occasional bug. Alas, price is another factor. . . . I already have a very nice set, which IMHO looks prettier than anything DGT sells, and also feels better (because of the weight), yet costs less than most of the sets in their catalog. ;) So it’s a little hard to justify going that route.
  And after all, it’s still possible to play online OTB with a traditional set (at least at longer time controls), by simply setting my tablet next to the board, with the screen all the way dim (to save battery / prevent distraction), and only looking at it for my opponent’s move / touching it to finalize my own move. In the meantime, I can try out any variations I want on my board, with no need for a takeback. ;) Which is maybe a good thing for me, since I’m a far cry from a blindfold player, and also one of those OCD types who keeps straightening random pieces, including my opponent’s. O:) Naturally, such behavior would never be tolerated in a real OTB game. But online, with a standard board, I can do anything I want. . . .
  That said, I have only tried this a few times. I usually just play in 2D. *shrug* Especially now, with the latest boards & pieces on this site, some of which look gorgeous together, IMHO. o.o I hope they are added to the Android app soon. (It would also be nice to have voice SFX in the app; then I wouldn’t need to watch the screen for my opponent’s moves.)
  I will probably cave in and buy an e-board, eventually. But whether I have one or not, I am excited to see Lichess now supporting them. This is a future-friendly move, for sure!
So will this work with Square Off? That project looks amazing but the only con is (or was?) that you could only play on their app. Is this no longer the case?
