facebook for chatting

It looks like one needs an existing facebook account in order to chat when watching lichess streams. Is that so? While I love the site in general I find that detail pretty annoying.
Lichess currently supports relaying streams from twitch.tv, hitbox and maybe soon youtube. These services provide a stream-chat if you have an account there. I don't think any of them require facebook to create an account.

The stream is watchable from multiple places, not only lichess; mainly on the service itself. It therefore makes sense to show their chat with the most viewers.
Yep, that's Twitch.tv, not lichess. Out of our control.

For what it's worth, Twitch doesn't need facebook to register. You can register with plain ol' email and password from its website.
You can even use a guerilla mail account , or 10 minute mail account, I believe.
Twitch chat rooms are actually IRC channels. Once you've made a twitch account (you can use a throwaway e-mail as cynosure suggested), you can get by without ever visiting their website, just connect to the IRC server and chat away.

I don't have the exact server details now, use your preferred search engine to find out. I have got it working on my other PC though.
