Where are all the GMs??

Ok we have chessbrahs and friends and their activity on lichess/twitch is absolutely awesome to watch but that's pretty much all we have (we have LittlePeasant but he's not much active).

Also, considering chessbrahs is currently basically the best in bullet (his ranking does not quite reflects that since he berseks a lot and lets other players use his account) despite not be that good a GM (his ELO is quite far from 2700), one can doubt there are any strong GM using a lichess account even anonymously.

I'm surprised and disapointed that Great Masters have not learnt yet how cool this site is. Can we hope this will change?
Here's Eric's (chessbrah's) own opinion on the matter based on what he said on his stream:

Generally speaking, GMs will only play against other GMs and IMs when it comes to online play, and only people they know personally. They do that to avoid cheaters, who can be infuriating to play against. That's why they will only play bullet in public matches.
#3, Kasparov hasn't played competitive chess in years. Nakamura plays a lot on other sites, but not lichess at the moment.

What lichess needs is more titled masters. The more GMs and IMs there are, the more GMs and IMs will come. It's a self-sustaining network effect.
"kapsarov and nikaru hakamura" ;)
just watch the users on this site. like the best horde player today (shown on mainpage).
#5 the best way to attract top players (and I say this as someone who is a top player in a rather different field) is - rather than endless variations on the game - the things that people ask for.

It's up to Thibault and co. of course, but it would help if mods and developers actually listened to what users want.

On the whole, people like choice. If one can choose the look and feel of the site, rather than have it changed and then be told "deal with it", people will be pleased. If things - like rankings - are just taken away, people won't be pleased.

People at the top of any field like things that work efficiently and effectively. The "favourite players" list is great in principle, but the numbers are wrong. I've mentioned it, so have others, and the mentions are ignored while yet another variant chess game is brought out.

No one listened when the "pools" were initiated. Clarkey was warned that people didn't like the system, and in the end they were so embarrassingly unpopular that they were removed.

If you set up an exhibition league featuring the top players all playing against each other in a sort of premier division, equal numbers of games etc, word would get around and everyone who is anyone would want to be in it.

Or we can have "Super Alien Chess 3430".
@Womble: I find that a bit harsh. For one thing, users can make valid and useful requests (I'm sure there is something sensible about what you're saying), but they also make dozens of them every day, many of which being very time-consuming, while most users have a different idea of what lichess should look and be like. No wonder the "feedback" section is the most popular in this forum, we all got used very quickly to just saying "hey Thibault, I need this done this and that way". How many sites do you know which are even remotely similar in the way they work?

Surely not the one platform that attracts most titled players online, anyway. Its popularity is probably more and more based solely on its name and reputation, and that's fair enough. They got there first. Lichess arrived late, but it's growing fast, as far as I can see.
All suggestions that will be made here will probably will be good to take. Offering slick and/or exciting playing conditions surely is paramount, and clearly tournaments are the main draw for titled players here (I like the idea of a top league which you mentioned; similarly to the "chess marathon", part of attracting new players lies in building the hype). Let's let the time do the rest, I'm pretty confident that "self-sustaining network effect" Hellball mentioned is already in motion.
#1 Get a t-shirt with 'lichess.org' in big letters written on it and then visit super tournaments, and shake every GMs Hand. Then, pointing at your T-Shirt, say 'Never visit this website - you have been warned'.

Soon we will have tons of GMs.
