Can we please start temp banning people that let the game time out instead of resigning ?

Or at the very least have it affect their ability to play in tournaments?
@PurePremiumPenguin Another potential solution is to reward more points to the victor if they win as a result of this decision. At the end of the day, chess is war and I don't think that we should be allowing people to avoid getting checkmated. Especially in tournaments. Getting destroyed in chess isn't fun. However, it's unfair to people that endure this fate to prevent them from being able to destroy others.
@PurePremiumPenguin My point is I don't mind being metaphorically punched in the face as long as I get a fair chance to metaphorically fight back. I feel that it's disrespectful to quit after you put yourself in a position that prevents you from winning.
The whole point of time clocks is to keep the games reasonable by preventing them from going on forever. If someone is letting time run because they're facing a forced mate I understand where you're coming from. However I feel that this is just one of those things that is better left alone than tinkered with. It's very possible that they're simply accepting defeat trying in vain to find a saving move.

What are the specifics of the situation that caused you to make this thread?
@TheNaphtali My opponent began making mistakes and ended up in a vulnerable situation. They responded by leaving the game. Eventually, I chose to declare a victory instead of a draw.
